About UPCYCLED AUSTRALIA

I founded UPCYCLED AUSTRALIA  in Byron Bay, NSW and have since relocated to the Darwin area of the Northern Territory. The idea of UPCYCLED was born in August 2012 during a road trip around Australia, seeing so many dead tyres along the roads and in big piles at tyre dealers when i had a flat. I had never given much thought to what will happen with all these millions of tyres and tubes that are being thrown out, every day, all around the world, mostly ending up in landfills for hundreds of years to come.

I always had a keen interest in environmental preservation and had also been playing with designs made from leather and many other natural materials over the years, when I decided to try out the recycled tyre tubes instead.

This waste material just offered itself to be tried out and it turned out to be a fantastic way to re-use something that would otherwise have a negative impact on our world and give it another life-cycle.

The inner tubes make a great material for bags and all sorts of accessories, because of their unique characteristics: they are highly durable, tough, water resistant and they actually look quite cool once they have been cleaned and treated thoroughly.

It is a perfect material to re-use, as you will see once you try out an UPCYCLED AUSTRALIA bag, belt or wallet.

Motorbike and scooter tyres also seem destined to become a sturdy, stylish, heavy duty belt, the best example for this being my TREAD tyre belt...belts don't come much tougher than that one.

At UPCYCLED AUSTRALIA I try my very best in order to create unique designs turning this amazing material into functional and stylish items for you to enjoy, I also use recycled materials for some of the inner linings etc.

This is how my unique range of upcycled and recycled products came to be, products that go the extra mile and don't cost the earth.
